Biography

Aleksi was born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1976. In a matter of months his family relocated to Oslo, Norway, which from then on became his home town. He began his art studies in 1995 at Oslo tegne- og maleskole. Seeking further development as an aspiring artist, he enrolled at Nordiska Konstskolan in Kokkola, Finland in 1998. This initial training yielded good results, and so Aleksi thereupon joined Statens Kunstakademi in Trondheim. With one year as an exchange student in his native Helsinki, he completed his education as a Masters of Fine Arts in Trondheim in 2004.

 

Presently, Aleksi is based in Oslo. There he is working individually and having his studio in a collective consisting of fourteen other artists.  Seeking inspiration from the outskirts of the southern Norwegian coast and the drama of the sea, Aleksi has spent much time painting at the sea bound island Svinør.
